 Reverend Karin Tunnéll
Our pastor is the Rev. Karin Tunnéll who just celebrated her tenth anniversary of ordination in June 2008. She came to us in July 2005 from Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wilmington where she served as the Associate Pastor since July of 2000. She began her ministry in 1996 in Queenstown, Maryland at the two-point charge of Calvary and Wye of Carmichael United Methodist Churches.
A native of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Rev. Karin moved to the East Coast in 1984 and has a rich background and professional history. Her career has focused on communications, including serving as an Account Executive, a Marketing Communications Consultant and Account Supervisor in both New York and Wilmington advertising firms. She has also been the Press Secretary for the Mayor of Wilmington and Public Information Officer, Director of Public Relations and Communications for Family Services Delaware and a Lexicographer for Phillips Petroleum. She attended the University of Arkansas, graduating with a double major in English and Art (and a propensity for calling the Hawgs!). She currently serves as co-chairperson of the Worship Committee for Annual Conference, serving in 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2004-2008. She has been affiliated with the American Red Cross, Philadelphia Calligraphy Society, Junior League of Wilmington, and Wilmington Women in Business. During her time in seminary, Rev. Karin was a Financial Secretary for a large church in Washington, DC.
Rev. Karin is a liturgical artist who has exhibited her work regionally and recently has had a piece permanently placed at the College of Preachers at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. Most importantly, Rev. Karin is passionate in her calling to provide a worship environment where all feel welcome and the relevant and relational message of the Good News of Jesus Christ is proclaimed. She is a devoted pug-owner of Samson and Delilah and has a grief ministry for those who have lost their pets.
