YOUTH MINISTRY

 Jeremiah1:6-7,9
"Ah, Sovereign LORD," I said, "I do not know how to speak; I am only a child."
But the LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I am only a child.'...Then the LORD reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, "Now, I have put my words in your mouth."

This year’s Youth Rally, by definition of Ben Shaffer and Timmy Dombroski, was the best they’ve ever been to. Personally, I’ve only been to two of them. But this one is going to be very hard to top. Reggie Dabbs, who was the speaker at the rally, talked a lot about death, and how God doesn’t make mistakes. He made everyone cry, and he made everyone laugh. The most emotional part for me was when he asked every mom or female chaperone in the room to stand up and go to the end of their aisles. He then asked all the kids who have had suicidal thoughts to stand up and then the women went to hug them.  An amazing number of youth in the convention center were hugging someone. There were mom’s hugging kids they don’t even know, and telling them that everything will be okay. The whole room was crying, whether or not they were standing up. We can be thankful that no youth from our St. Paul’s group stood up. I feel really blessed to have been able to hear Reggie speak, and to see and feel the effect he has on people. I say has because no one at that youth rally will ever forget what happened. It’s just not possible. The things that he said will continue to empower us for the rest of our lives. I strongly encourage anyone who is of age to go. Don’t miss this opportunity. It really is the opportunity of a lifetime. --Sarah Pulling

Youth RALLY—are they alive or dead?

What a moving and wonderful weekend. Our 13 teens did wonderfully. Mrs. Kennedy and Mrs. Guise were terrific and Brian and the guys had their video game championship on Friday and Saturday nights. Ben Shaffer was the overall winner! Saturday we did our service project and had a blast making cards for the troops. We had quite a bit of down time on Saturday afternoon. The rally could have planned 1 more event during that time but so many service activities were going on and they were, not doubt, overwhelmed. With all the challenges our kids face in their daily lives, to see 4000 teens singing and praising, working in service to God, and filled with the spirit....it was wonderful.

Ally will be giving a summary of her thoughts next weekend at the 11am service. Maddie Kennedy will speak for the kids.                       Kelly McNelis

What a great time! It was raining and cold but our team prevailed. Finish time was 51:49, which was 78/341 co-ed teams. It was a muddy, mucky mess but fun! Our team raised over $300.00 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Delaware and kids with cancer. We ran for our hero, Olivia Calbazana, and in memory of Ethan Williams. Total dollars made........still pending but estimated to be over $200,000.00! Frightland estimated there were over 12,000 runners, volunteers and visitors who attended the event. We were sooooo proud of our kids!
